It is the early 2000’s. Morgan Olsen is a lead homicide detective in the Montrose area of Houston.
Morgan is the youngest Lead in the department, and being young and female in a Southern police department is not without its challenges. Older men with more experience but less capability are not happy.
A hidden group have made Morgan their poster child for progressive reform in the department, but they are anything but open minded. They have already chased DeWayne Kelly out of her love life, and they have made it clear they are not happy with her open minded ways.
Her success as a cop is advertised, but they do not want her life to be her own. Morgan has other ideas about that. She does not know who they are. Yet.

Along the way, the people trying to control Morgan’s life also try to interfere with the investigation, but Morgan will not be deterred. She will live her life as she sees fit, and she will find out who is killing these young men.
